40 DAY CHALLENGE | Walk With Jesus - Day 38

On The Road to Emmaus

Today’s Scripture:

Luke 24:14-18 “They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him. He asked them, "What are you discussing together as you walk along?" They stood still, their faces downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, "Are you only a visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in these days?"

Prayer Focus:

Pray that your desire to be in God’s presence would increase everyday. Pray that you would never fail to recognize Him when He is walking with you. Pray that you would know his voice and allow yourself to be guided by His spirit. Easter Weekend Celebrations are only a few days away and people will be more inclined to visit church this weekend. Be in prayer for those that will meet Jesus this weekend.

40 DAY CHALLENGE | Walk With Jesus - Day 37

The Upper Room

Today’s Scripture:

John 20:19-29 “On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."

Prayer Focus:

Pray today that God’s peace would fill your heart. Jesus gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit to comfort us in His absence. Allow the peace that surpasses all understanding to cover you where ever you are today. 

40 DAY CHALLENGE | Walk With Jesus - Day 36

Continued

Today’s Scripture:

John 20:4-7 “Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus' head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen.”

Prayer Focus:

As we are nearing the end of our 40-Day journey, pray that God’s power would be unleashed in your life. Easter is only a few days a way and only last one day, but God’s power is everlasting. Pray about who you will invite and bring to Easter services this weekend. Pray that God will go before and prepare their heart to receive your invitation and ultimately receive Christ as their Savior. The resurrection of our Lord and Savior is exciting, it’s empowering and it’s freeing. Pray it never loses its significance in our lives and we will walk in His power everyday.

40 DAY CHALLENGE | Walk With Jesus - Day 35

He Is Risen

Today’s Scripture:

Luke 24:3-5 “But when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " Then they remembered his words.”

Prayer Focus:

As we gather for worship this morning, remember that Jesus is NOT dead in a tomb. He IS alive and His power IS available to you today. God’s plan for his son was perfectly orchestrated and carried out, including the trials, temptations, hurt and victories that Jesus experienced. Our lives are no different, God chose you to live at this time according to His plan. Do you trust Him with those plans today? Have you been living according to your plans instead of His? Surrender to Him today and allow Him to use you. Pray for a teachable, humble spirit and for God to increase your capacity to trust Him and give you the courage to lay your plans aside so that you can experience all that He has for you. Also, continue to pray for Barefoot weekend and all those that will receive the shoes we collect. 

40 DAY CHALLENGE | Walk With Jesus - Day 34

The Tomb Is Secured

Today’s Scripture:

Matthew 27:63-64 “Sir," they said, "we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.' So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first."

Prayer Focus:

As we prepare to gather for the first of our weekend services on Barefoot Weekend, pray that God would be glorified in all that we do. Pray for those donating shoes, those that will receive shoes, and those that will make a decision to follow Jesus Christ this weekend. Pray that God’s spirit would reign as we reach out to help the least of these. As you walk away from service tonight barefoot, pray for the person who will soon be walking in the shoes you gave away.

40 DAY CHALLENGE | Walk With Jesus - Day 33

The Death of Hope

Today’s Scripture:

Luke 23:50-56 “Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea and he was waiting for the kingdom of God. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body. Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin. The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.”

Prayer Focus:

As we prepare for Hillsong London tonight, pray that God will use this concert to draw people to Him. Pray for those that are coming tonight that do not know Christ but are simply coming to attend a concert. Pray that God will meet them right where they are and they will begin a relationship with Him. Pray also for Barefoot Weekend and for those receiving the shoes that will be collected this weekend. Pray that God will use a simple pair of shoes to give someone hope and remind them that they are not forgotten and that Jesus loves them. Pray for lives to be changed this weekend as we continue our Walk To The Cross Series.

40 DAY CHALLENGE | Walk With Jesus - Day 32

The Crucifixion

Today’s Scripture:

Luke 23:39-43 “One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

Prayer Focus:

As our C3 Warriors gather this morning, pray that God will use them in a big way. Pray that God would raise up an army of men to lead the families of our church on the path that God intends. Jesus hung beside two criminals at His crucifixion; one was mocking him but the other repented and asked for forgiveness. Pray that as our men press into God that He would give them supernatural wisdom in every area of their life and leading. 

40 DAY CHALLENGE | Walk With Jesus - Day 31

The King On The Cross

Today’s Scripture:

Luke 23:32-35 “Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

Prayer Focus:

Jesus knew this was the Father’s plan in order for us to receive forgiveness. Jesus was pleading forgiveness for those who were crucifying Him even in the midst of their actions. There is nothing too big for God. God wants you to confess and ask for forgiveness and He wants you to extend forgiveness just as He forgave us. Pray today that forgiveness will be a lifestyle for you. Pray against the enemy and his plans to rob you of the freedom of forgiveness. 

40 DAY CHALLENGE | Walk With Jesus - Day 30

The Journey To The Cross

Today’s Scripture:

Luke 23:26-31 “As they led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. Jesus turned and said to them, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. For the time will come when you will say, 'Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!' Then" 'they will say to the mountains, "Fall on us!" and to the hills, "Cover us!" 'For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?"

Prayer Focus:

The weight of your burdens may feel unbearable for you to carry but remember that Jesus has already bore this weight and He desires that you cast all your cares and burdens upon Him. He bore the weight of our sins so we do not have to. What are you carrying today that you need to lay down? Pray that God will reveal to you anything that is weighing you down. Pray that He will give you the strength to lay down your burdens and leave them with Him so that you can rest in His peace and walk in freedom. 

40 DAY CHALLENGE | Walk With Jesus - Day 29

The Scourge of Jesus

Today’s Scripture:

John 19:1-16 “Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe and went up to him again and again, saying, "Hail, king of the Jews!" And they struck him in the face. Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews, "Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him." When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, "Here is the man!" As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, "Crucify! Crucify!" But Pilate answered, "You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him." The Jews insisted, "We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God." When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid, and he went back inside the palace. "Where do you come from?" he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer. "Do you refuse to speak to me?" Pilate said. "Don't you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?" Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin." From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jews kept shouting, "If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar." When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge's seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha). It was the day of Preparation of Passover Week, about the sixth hour. "Here is your king," Pilate said to the Jews. But they shouted, "Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!" "Shall I crucify your king?" Pilate asked. "We have no king but Caesar," the chief priests answered. Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.”

Prayer Focus:

Jesus was tortured and ultimately crucified for our sins. He is truly our scapegoat and our way to the Father. Thank Him today for the sacrifice He paid so that we can walk in freedom. Pray that as we prepare for Hillsong London and Barefoot Weekend this coming week that God will be glorified in all that we do.
